Albright Way/Netflix Project Petition Solicitor Removed From Lunardi's

Residents complain man was 'harassing' elderly shoppers, lacked a permit to solicit.

A security officer removed an Albright Way/Netflix project petition gatherer Monday afternoon from the Lunardi's market shopping center due to lack of a permit to solicit and multiple customer complaints.

Los Gatos resident Tony Alarcon contacted Los Gatos Patch to complain that the man had set up a table outside the popular market's entrance at 720 Blossom Hill Rd. and was "targeting" elderly residents.

Alarcon said he contacted Federal Realty property manager Rachel Richards to request the man be removed from Lunardi's who told him in an email the center's security guard would ask him to leave after contacting the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno police.

"Turns out Lunardi's has been receiving multiple complaints on his tactics with complaints to the LGMSPD Saturday and Sunday, but they couldn't remove him," Alarcon said.

"He's aggressively soliciting people when [they] enter and exit the store," Alarcon said.

Alarcon added the Lunardi's manager told him he had complained about the man to the LGMSPD Saturday and Sunday but they were not able to assist as the issue was not within the department's jurisdiction.

Alarcon said he was prepared to boycott the shopping center as a result of what he considered the solicitor's harassing behavior.

John R. Shenk, the developer of the Albright Way project, said on Wednesday, Nov. 13 signatures began being collected to place the future Netflix home on the June ballot.
