The opportunity to develop Albright Way will be there regardless of how much time is taken as will…Read More be the future tax revenue and future occupant. There are many notable companies besides Netflix who would like to occupy that space. Once the property is developed, its foot print and visual impacts will likely be there for 30+ years. Current projects like the old Honda site and corner of Los Gatos Blvd/Blossom Hill are projects that are already approved with the traffic and school implications have yet to be felt. The current traffic impacts in town are very clear and distinguishable from even 2 years ago. It takes almost 20 minutes to across town to get to 85/Winchester now. Class A office space with appropriate open space is undoubtedly needed in Los Gatos. Those of us, myself included, who have commuted to San Jose or Palo Alto will gladly welcome it. However, significant underground parking, and building height must be a priority consideration to best blend the development into the landscape. Creating underground parking will both lower the building heights and increase open space. Think…Why would a developer spending OVER $300,000,000 on a project not put up proper height poles, indicate where the corners of each building are, and show a discernible visual representation of the buildings skyline? This action denied the citizens of Los Gatos the opportunity to see the project in its TRUE future form. The developer does not want significant underground parking because it lowers their immediate profits nothing more. We need to think of what is best for the long term interest of our town and how the project affects Los Gatos long after the developer has made their money. Points of reference, the Albright Way project has a projected 5000 trip counts (traffic) and The North 40 future development 21,000. Safeway was only 2006 trip counts as posted at lg-ca.com. One only needs to look at Old Town and the parking situation in town. After the earthquake had extra time and money been spent with underground parking implemented it would offer long term benefits today. The traffic from Albright Way is something we are likely going to be stuck with but we can make sure the right building heights and amount of open space are implemented. Please take your time with Albright Way as it impacts our town far beyond today.
Hum...after 5+ hours of meeting and probably countless hours of prep and staff meetings, these guys…Read More can't make a decision? Looks like a lack of leadership that can be taken care of in a November election....which is probably why they punted the decision....no one wants to risk their seat by showing some leadership
I agree with Brian and Jeremy, make a decision. I was there for 5 1/2 hours last night and also…Read More attended the planning commission meeting a few weeks ago. I am astonished that this plan has not been approved. I am so tired about hearing about the height of these buildings. Moving forward with this project will provide great benefits for the town of Los Gatos and its residents that vastly outweigh any cons.
