Lyle Lovett 'Loves' Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company

First it was Hollywood actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger who visited Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company in August of 2012.

Then it was famous comedian Bill Cosby who visited the popular coffee shop in June of this year. 

And actor, film producer and musician Johnny Depp stopped by in October during a visit to his brother who lives in the Bay Area.
 
Now, four-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett is among the growing list of celebrities who come to the quaint cafe at 101 W. Main St. in downtown Los Gatos to get their caffeine fix and visit with the friendly locals.

Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company owner Teri Hope said Lovett visited the store the weekend of Nov. 15-17 and ordered coffee and crepes and "he was just very gracious."

Hope explained Lovett has been frequenting the store for several years, especially when he's booked to perform at Saratoga's Mountain Winery.

Hope thinks Lovett may have been performing in Santa Cruz this time around.

"He normally stays in Los Gatos and he always comes to our shop for coffee," Hope said. "This time we saw him for three consecutive days."

Hope said the shop's employees try hard to not interfere when celebrities visit and try to make them comfortable and at home so they're not overwhelmed.

"We try not to have everyone Facebook it like right in the moment because we don't want him to be put off by too much attention," Hope said. "But he's such a recognizable person that people instantly see him and know who he is."

Lovett was also seen walking around other parts of Los Gatos' downtown such as the farmers' market near Town Plaza Park with a camera and his signature cowboy boots.

"He was blending in ... but people were still recognizing him," she said. "People knew he was here but they were trying to respect his space and privacy."

Needless to say, Hope was tickled by the visit and Coffee Roasting Company employee Sarah Whiteman was privileged to wait on him and was excited to learn Lovett remembered her from a previous visit.

Lovett is said to have complimented Whiteman on her coffee drinks, but ordered a cappuccino made with espresso and steamed milk, Hope said.

"It has to be at least 10 years, or maybe longer, that Lyle has been visiting us," she added. "He likes Los Gatos so he tends to stay here."
