'Los Gatos Trash Collector Trashed My House'

Los Gatos resident Jennifer Kretschmer complains that a West Valley Collection and Recycling garbage man is dumping debris on her property; missing garbage collection occasionally.

It's the height of absurdity ... the company that's supposed to collect your garbage trashes your house with debris ...

But a Los Gatos resident says that's exactly what happened to her Monday afternoon, Nov. 11 when West Valley Collection and Recycling truck driver No. 156, to be specific, stopped at her home on Old Blossom Hill Road and threw trash on her property.

Jennifer Kretschmer wrote Los Gatos Patch to report the garbage man's "appalling conduct" that she said she witnessed first-hand while walking home from the park with her children.

Kretschmer said the garbage man got out of his truck, walked to the back, pulled trash out and then threw it into her property.

She event took photos of the incident, which she shared with Los Gatos Patch and are attached to this story.

To make matters worse, Kretschmer said WVC&R, the garbage hauler for Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, Campbell and unincorporated Santa Clara County, occasionally misses parts of its pick up on Old Blossom Hill Road.

Some days, Kretschmer said, the service misses the recycling pick-up, while other days it misses garbage, or compost.

"There is no way to know what they will miss, except that they will likely miss a collection about once a month," Kretschmer lamented.

One of the residents on the street will usually call to complain, and the street gets an additional collection, she said.

"My husband and I are constantly picking up trash on that part of our property but this is the first time that either of us witnessed the act. To then see that this was coming from the waste collection company left me infuriated," Kretschmer complained.

Kretschmer said she has heard WVC&R's contract is up for renewal and wanted to express her dissatisfaction with the hopes that town government officials will take notice.

Kretschmer said she called WVC&R to complain and that someone with the company reported there were no supervisors available to talk to her about her issue and that someone would call her Tuesday.

Kretschmer even contacted town officials and filed a police report about the problem on Tuesday.

WVC&R district manager Glen Long told Los Gatos Patch Tuesday he was looking into the incident to find out the name of the garbage man and reasons why trash was dumped on Kretschmer's property.
