Los Gatos' Historic Beckwith Building Stands Supreme

Historical edifice has adorned Main Street in downtown Los Gatos due to its architectural style and craftmanship.

We finally took a photo of the beautiful brick historic Beckwith Block building on Main Street this weekend.

The building was constructed circa 1893, more than 120 years ago.

According to Hooked on Los Gatos, the Library and History Museum Project, the building housed the post office and then spent most of the 20th century as the Rex Hotel.

It was badly damaged during the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and had to be rebuilt and strengthened, according to Hooked on Los Gatos.

According to the Beckwith Block building listing on Los Gatos Patch, the edifice houses residential units upstairs and retail stores at street level.
