The United States Geological Survey is reporting a preliminary 3.4-magnitude earthquake, which hit the East Foothills in San Jose at approximately 12:02 p.m.

The temblor was centered along the Calaveras Fault, about 9 miles from San Jose, according to the USGS website.

Los Gatos residents reported on the Los Gatos Patch Facebook page that they felt the quick jolt, too.

There were five responses recorded from Los Gatos on the USGS's "Did You Feel It?" Response survey.
