Matt Morley is Los Gatos New Parks and Public Works Director

New town department head to officially begin his duties Monday, Dec. 2, 2013.

San Jose's Deputy Director of Public Works Matt Morley has been hired as the town's new Parks and Public Works boss.

Morley, who oversees the Fleet and Facilities Division for the City of San Jose, will officially assume his duties Monday, Dec. 2.

He fills the void created when former Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Director Todd Capurso left to go work for the City of Campbell.

Bob Kass has been serving as interim public works director and Capurso's resignation became effective June 21.

That means the department has waited nearly five months to fill the position.

PPW is responsible for maintaining the town's public parks, facilities and infrastructure and the department is comprised of six organizational units:  Administration, engineering and capital projects, park services, environmental services, facilities and streets and signals.
