THE HARD ROAD TRIO AT THE WOODSHED
The Hard Road Trio performs at The Woodshed at Keith Holland Guitars, 16905 Roberts Rd. in Los Gatos at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6. The famous bluegrass band members are Steve Smith, Chris Sanders and Anne Luna. Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. Details: 408-395-0767.
LOS GATOS FOOD TRUCK FEST
The Los Gatos Food Fest weekly summer culinary food truck series continues 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at La Hacienda, 18840 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road. The events officially began Friday, May 17 and feature live music and the presence of hugely popular food trucks. The series continues every Friday evening at the same time through Sept. 13. CLAWS FOR A CAUSE LOBSTER PARTY
The Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club, in partnership with C.B. Hannegan's Irish Pub, presents its ninth annual community fundraising event, with proceeds going to the Los Gatos Morning Rotary Charitable Foundation (supporting music, art and youth scholarships) Claws for a Cause Lobster Party at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. at C.B. Hannegan's, corner of Bachman and North Santa Cruz avenues. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat dinner and dance celebration are $90 per person. Last year's event sold out, so buy your tickets early. GET YOUR TASTE OF LOS GATOS TICKETS!
The annual Taste of Los Gatos takes place 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the estate of Randi and Jim Zanardi, 16401 South Kennedy Rd., in Los Gatos. The event benefits the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Foundation, which supports the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department. The event includes "tastes" from the finest restaurants in Los Gatos, fine wine from our local wineries, and fascinating exhibits from the police department. See and control a police robot, experience a police K9 demonstration, try on the SWAT gear, and much more.
The Zanardis will have a selection of their beautiful vintage cars on display, including a 1936 Cadillac that looks like it rolled off the factory floor. Violinist Hannah Tarley with pianist Libby Kardontchik perform a solo recital to benefit the Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Levy Family Campus in the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley, 14855 Oka Rd. in Los Gatos. PICTURING PLACE AT ART MUSEUM OF LOS GATOS
The Museums of Los Gatos presents Picturing Place: Photographs by Gregory Schaffer and Mike Williams, through Sept. 8 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. Picturing Place is an exhibition that draws on two contemporary photographers’ explorations of their environments. In his landscapes, Seattle Schaffer explores where people, commerce, economy and natural environment intersect and ultimately define their surroundings. Williams focuses on the intersection of image and text in making observations about the world around him. What emerges is often the humorous and absurd, the tragic and surreal elements of human life. EVOLUTION OF GREEN: ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVISM IN SANTA CLARA VALLEY
Evolution of Green is an exhibit sharing the stories of those individuals and groups whose experiences have shaped the evolving narrative of the valley's environmental story for the past 50 years 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Friday and noon-4 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday through Sept. 22 at the History Museum of Los Gatos, 75 Church St. Details: 408-354-2646.
