Week Ahead: Los Gatos High School Incoming Freshmen Events, Exhibits
Support the Los Gatos High School music boosters' 'Music Matters' fundraiser going on now through Feb. 15; goal if for each family to donate $200.
2014-15 INCOMING LOG GATOS HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMEN EVENTS
There are three important events for 2014-15 incoming freshmen students of Los Gatos High School, 20 High School Court, this week. At 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, there will be an eighth-grade student-parent welcome night in the LGHS large gym. Then at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, there will be a "Freshman Core Pathways" student panel in the LGHS Theater. Current LGHS freshmen will share experiences with eighth-graders about their transition to high school, including experiences within core pathways at LGHS. Then at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31 there will be a parent visitation day at LGHS in front of the campus' mail building. Details: 408-395-8435.
LOS GATOS HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTERS' FUNDRAISER
The Los Gatos High School's music program continues its fundraiser to help purchase new equipment and facilities through Feb. 15. The school's music program enrollment has doubled in the last three years and music students now account for nearly 20 percent of overall student enrollment at LGHS, and projections put growth close to 40 percent of enrollment in five years. The "Music Matters!" fundraiser goal is to have 100 percent of families give $200 each, to raise $50,000 this year. To donate, please click here.
AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS
The History Museum of Los Gatosat Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Exhibit highlights include the showing of home movies of famous American writer and lawyer C.E.S. Wood and poet and suffragist Sara Bard Field and their families at the Cats Estate, 17525 Santa Cruz Highway. Details: 408-395-7375.
ART IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS NEW EXHIBIT
The Town of Los Gatos and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered on a new exhibit showcasing renowned Bay Area artists' works of part of the program through Jan. 30, 2014. The program, which has been going on for 13 years, normally presents four exhibits in the chambers, 110 E. Main St., with an evening artist reception being held for each show. The first exhibit features more than 50 artists currently appearing in the Los Gatos Museums Gallery. Details: 408-354-6834.
