Los Gatos Patch Editor to 'Give 5'

Local Editor Sheila Sanchez will participate in Saturday's Coastal Cleanup Day beautifying Los Gatos Creek.

On Saturday, Sept. 17, your Local Editor Sheila Sanchez will join about 80,000 people in Coastal Cleanup Day, one of the state's largest cleanup events of the year.

From 9 a.m. to noon, Sanchez and other volunteers from Santa Clara County will pick up garbage and beautify 42 creek sites.

The event is coordinated by the Creek Connections Action Group, a consortium of public agencies and nonprofit organizations, including the Santa Clara Valley Water District, Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation and San Jose.

She'll be meeting with her group of volunteers in the parking lot of the Courtyard Marriott Hotel located at 655 Creekside Way, behind Campbell's Pruneyard.

Sanchez will be volunteering as part of Patch's Give 5 program—the initiative encourages Patch editors across the country to volunteer  five paid work days throughout the year in their communities. Patch also gives 5 percent of its advertising space, free of charge, to local charities.

Patch's next 'Give 5' day is Nov 17. That means Sanchez is looking for places where she can serve Los Gatos and she would love your suggestions.
