Last Chance: Great Race, All-Pro Tae Kwon Do's Celebrity Event

  • Sign up for the 35th annual Great Race at 9 a.m., Sunday, April 29. The event is a 4-mile scenic footrace/walk down Highway 9 from Saratoga to Los Gatos. It's presented by the . Register online by clicking here.
  • All-Pro Tae Kwon Do martial arts studio in Los Gatos is presenting its "All-Star Celebrity" event at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the Los Gatos High School's gymnasium. Tickets are $5 for general admission (bleachers) and $20 for VIP floor seating. Special guest speaker includes Professor Gary Lee of the Museum of Sport Karate, who will autograph/photograph and participate in a book signing, 4-5:30 p.m. The event is also inviting actors such as Martin Kove, James Hong, Bolo Yeung, John Saxon, professor Gary Dill, and others to attend. Los Gatos Meats will be serving hotdogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, italian/polish sausages, tri-tip/chicken/pulled pork/jerk chicken sandwiches, and linguica. Doce Spazio will be serving gelato and Blvd Coffee will be serving sodas, water, coffee, tea, cold sandwiches, and cookies. Uh Oh Cupcakes will serving a wide variety of cupcakes. CHARITY

The 16th annual Rivers of Chocolate Festival takes place 1-5 p.m., Sunday, April 29 at The Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Rd. in Saratoga benefitting EHC Lifebuilders, leading provider of shelter and services for homeless adults, families, and children in Silicon Valley. The event includes live music, food, wine and chocolate prepared by more than 70 Bay Area businesses. Tickets will stop selling at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 28. Details: chocolate@ehclifebuilders.org.

BUSINESS

The Town of Los Gatos is offering a free green business symposium exclusively for Los Gatos businesses 8:45-11 a.m., Monday, April 30, at the new Los Gatos Library's second floor, 100 Villa Ave. Today is the last day to RSVP by clicking here. The event will help business owners learn the ins-and-outs of becoming a green certified business, hear from industry experts on new products, rebates, and resources and network with other green businesses. Mayor Steve Rice will hold his monthly “Meet the Mayor” session 2-4 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at the new library, 100 Villa Avenue, in the conference room. Occurring the fourth Saturday of each month, these informal sessions are an opportunity for residents, groups, youth, and businesses to stop by and talk with the mayor about issues and/or ideas. No appointment is required.
