The annual Santa Cruz Mountains Challenge, a punishing ride in the local hills, will roll out from Scotts Valley High School at
The ride includes a double century (that's 200
miles), a century (100 miles) and a metric century (100 kilometers or 65
miles). All of the courses include a grueling 1,500-foot, 3-mile climb
up the Jamison Creek Hill.
watch out for a surge in cyclists Saturday all over the mountains. The
courses travel along Mt. Charley Road and Summit Road, dip down to
Lexington Reservoir in Los Gatos and head over toward Bonny Doon on
China Grade and Smith Grade.
