'Cats Celebrate Niners Despite Loss

Iconic restaurant hosts about 70 fans Sunday evening who watched game and enjoyed a fun evening of drinks and sportsmanship despite painful loss.

About 70 San Francisco 49ers fans came out Sunday afternoon to The Cats Restaurant & Tavern to support their home team during its NFC title game.

Despite losing by a 20-17 score to the New York Giants, 'Cats owner David Peterson said everyone still had a great time during the viewing party that began at 2 p.m. and was continuing at 10 p.m. Sunday evening.

, offered drink specials every hour and raffled many prizes such as gift certificates during commercial breaks, Peterson added.

On the menu Sunday evening were chili and garlic fries, potato skins, hot wings, brisket chili, and cheesy garlic bread.

"We were full of Niners fans. We had no Giants supporters here," Peterson noted.

About the Niners' devastating loss, Peterson said although fans were upset, everyone still felt the team had a great season. "They came so far and we're still really proud supporters of the San Francisco 49ers," Peterson said.

The viewing celebration was a change of pace for the new restaurant which has been having live entertainment every night since it opened.

Said Peterson: "It was a blast ... It was like a big family gathering. Everyone was high-fiving each other and enjoying each other's company. There was a gentleman in here that bought a whole round of drinks for the entire restaurant twice after every touch down."
