How Are You Supporting Los Gatos Schools?

The Doves Club fall luncheon at Testarossa Tuesday benefitted Los Gatos schools, but more help is needed. What are you doing to help local education causes?

Wow ... what a beautiful day yesterday was! It was not only beautiful with regards to fantastic weather conditions, but also beautiful beacuse 102 women got together for a luncheon to benefit Los Gatos schools!

It was the first fall Las Palomas/The Doves Club luncheon set at the lovely Testarossa Winery. The hostesses of this luncheon were Gina Ventimiglia, Vivie Desigaux, Joann Johnson, Madalen Closson and Claudia Kennedy.

For this month, given that it was the first luncheon since "back-to-school," the hostesses decided to let everyone choose to what school they wanted to benefit.

The mission of Las Palomas/The Doves Club is to expose valley women to small local women's and children's charities and to encourage giving back to the community while enjoying luncheons and events with their girlfriends.

Each month a defined group of hostesses pick a charity, pick a venue or restaurant and send invites to a growing list of women who have chosen to support the mission.

The beauty of this organization is that it provides a perfect "no-pressure" manner in which women can get involved in the community. If you can make a lunch, great. If you want to invite friends, even better and if you want to be able to become a hostess one month and pick your charity and venue, there is an opportunity for that! It's a "win-win" give-back while having a nice catch up with your girlfriends, mothers and daughters.

Yesterday, Tuesday, Sept. 18, was especially beautiful because not only was it a sell-out crowd, but also the community came together to help raise even more money for the schools.

Rob Jensen, from Testarossa Winery, underwrote most of the costs of his venue and unlimited wine tasting during the entire 11 a.m.-2 p.m. event. His event manager, Alex and the entire staff were incredibly wonderful to work with during the entire planning and day of the event.

Joanna Biondi, owner of the divine Cafe' Primavera underwrote the delicious cuisine and staff for the event. Roger and Nancy at Bunches provided the beautiful flower center pieces. Everyone must take advantage of the amazing Dahlias that Roger and Nancy have been bringing in. They are huge and absolutely gorgeous! The perfect flower for all your entertainment needs while they are in season!

Amour Patisserie, the wonderful new bakery, cake and chocolate shop donated scrumptious chocolates for dessert. If you haven't been there yet, you owe yourself the treat (no pun intended). The cake and chocolate designs are as good as any Parisian chocolate shop and the taste is mouth watering.

Andrea Blackwell, of Blackwell Cosmetics , route: {:controller=>"listings", :action=>"show", :id=>"andrea-blackwell-cosmetics"} -->gave fun and useful lip or eye pencil sharpener party favors to all the guests.
