Los Gatos High School Celebrates 125th Anniversary Sunday

Festivities on the school's front lawn are set from noon until 3:30 p.m.

Los Gatos High School celebrates its 125th anniversary noon-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 on its front lawn.

Organizers are inviting all town residents to participate in the festivities, especially LGHS graduates and their families.

There will be a time capsule ceremony, a BBQ lunch provided by C.B. Hannegan's, music and local speakers, and different tent areas to meet each group of graduates.

Event Schedule
  • 12-12:30 p.m.: check in
  • 12:30-1 p.m.: Time-capsule ceremony with speeches by Los Gatos Mayor Barbara Spector and Apple co-founder and Los Gatos resident Steve Wozniak.
  • 1 p.m.: Picture taken of all 125th anniversary celebration attendees
  • 1:15 p.m.: Food provided by C.B. Hannegan's will be served
  • 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Los Gatos High School Teachers' Band performance

Designated parking will be in the student upper and lower lots.

Lunch is $20 and T-shirts are $10 for sizes small through extra large and $12 for sizes extra-extra large.

The first official Los Gatos High School graduating class was the class of 1896, with 10 students, who promptly formed an alumni association, according to the event's website.

In 1897, 12 members graduated. That class published the first school yearbook, the Wildcat.
