Los Gatos Mayor Spector, Councilwoman Jensen Sworn In

Honorable Delwen Lowell Jensen administers the oath of office Monday evening inside council chambers at Town Hall.

Newly elected Los Gatos Mayor Barbara Spector and Councilwoman Marcia Jensen were sworn into their positions on the Council Monday evening by the Honorable Delwen Lowell Jensen, senior judge for the Northern District of California.

Judge Jensen, who's Marcia Jensen's father, commended the women on their election to positions that he said requires them to assume the burden of leadership in Los Gatos.

"We expect that you'll take on that duty and your actions and your decisions will reflect the deep and abiding concern for the public that you serve," Judge Jensen said. "We hope your time and your talents will be extended to the service of others."

Marcia Jensen was then asked to join the rest of her four colleagues on the dais and former Councilman Steve Rice was thanked for his work as mayor and vice mayor for the past four years.

"It's been an honor and a privilege to serve the Town of Los Gatos and my fellow citizens," Rice said. "What makes any job worth doing is the people with whom you get to work with and it's been my pleasure to serve with [four] other council members as well as now [Santa Clara County] Supervisor Mike Wasserman and an amazing town staff ... It's been a great ride."

Marcia Jensen said she was pleased and proud to represent the community. "I look forward to the opportunity to do my best for you for the next four years," she said.
