County Supes Appoint Acting Counsel

Lori Pegg will succeed Miguel Marquez who was appointed as a judge by Gov. Jerry Brown.

Santa Clara County officials have announced that Lori Pegg has been elected to serve as acting county counsel after her predecessor was appointed as a judge.

Pegg, who was an assistant county counsel, was appointed this week by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, whose members include former Los Gatos mayor Mike Wasserman.

She will assume office July 25, replacing Miguel Marquez, who Gov. Jerry Brown recently appointed to the San Jose-based Sixth District Court of Appeal.

Pegg has more than 25 years of experience on public employee issues, including employment discrimination, sexual harassment, civil rights and collective bargaining, according to county officials.

The county counsel's office serves as the chief legal advisor to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and represents various county departments in litigation.
