Los Gatos Woman Arrested on Suspicion of DUI, Child Endangerment

Accident occurs Sunday evening in Piedmont, driver booked into North County Jail in Oakland.

A Los Gatos woman was arrested and jailed and a child was treated for minor injuries after a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Ronada and Grand avenues about 7:45 p.m. Sunday in Piedmont.

According to Piedmont Police Sgt. Catherine Carr, of the PPD traffic division, Attossa Barnia, 29, the driver, was arrested after her vehicle, a 2005 Pontiac, hit a median at Grand and Rose avenues, tried to correct and then rolled over onto its roof.

Asked if speeding was a factor, Carr said the report didn't say and added the car hit the median and ended upside down.

Barnia was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and child endangerment, and was taken into custody and booked at the North County Jail in Oakland.

Passengers in the vehicle included another adult woman from San Jose, 28 and two girls, ages 7 and 8, Carr said.
