Police in Los Gatos have reported three DUI arrests so far in a stepped-up focus on the national end-of-summer/Labor Day campaign against drunken driving.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, which coordinates the "Avoid the 13" drunk driving campaigns throughout the year, have reported 215 arrests from 15 law enforcement agencies in the county since the summer/Labor Day campaign began Aug. 17.
DUI checkpoints will be conducted on Saturday September 1, in the cities of San Jose and Milpitas. Extra DUI units called "saturation patrols will be deployed in the town of Los Gatos, and the cities of Campbell, Milpitas, Los Altos, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Gilroy, Sunnyvale, Morgan Hill, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, and the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County.
Arrests made in Los Altos Hills, Cupertino and Saratoga are handled by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department, or the California Highway Patrol, and figures from those agencies are not broken down by city.
