Updated: Highway 9 Reopens to Traffic After Major Injury Collision

Vehicle crashes at about 11 p.m. Friday on dangerous road landing 75 feet down cliff causing injuries to unknown number of occupants, according to the CHP.

Update: 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 22: After a three-hour closure, Highway 9 reopened early Saturday morning following a major injury crash late Friday evening involving a vehicle with an unknown number of passengers who suffered injuries.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 35 in the unincorporated area of Saratoga, about eight miles west from the city's center.

The car is said to have gone off the roadway near Heather Heights and Congress Springs roads, which run near Highway 9, also known as Big Basin Way.

All Lanes of traffic have reopened on Highway 9 at the intersection with state Highway 35 this morning after a major injury collision in Santa Clara County late Friday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A vehicle went off the roadway near Heather Heights Road and traveled 75 feet down a cliff before coming to rest, according to the CHP.

CHP received reports of the collision at 11:16 p.m. and both directions of traffic reopened at about 2:01 a.m., according to the CHP.

An air ambulance transported the injured driver to Stanford Hospital, according to the CHP.
