Willow Street Los Gatos Turns 20!
A restaurant that has survived for 20 years … who would have thought? Not the industry that’s for sure.
You see, nearly 80 percent of the restaurants that open in this country close within a year. And a full half of those that survive the first year are gone by the second.
Needless to say, it isn’t a business for the faint of heart. Yet, on occasion it all comes together, the menu, the atmosphere, the staff and most of all the community.
At Willow Street Wood-Fired Pizza Los Gatos you have made us feel at home from the beginning.
And speaking of the beginning; we were here when thousands of Brazilian soccer fans filled the streets and the restaurants in town for a couple weeks in the summer of ’94.
You couldn’t cross Santa Cruz Avenue between us and C.B. Hannegan’s without being handed a Budweiser or being high-fived by a wild-eyed, horn-blowing visitor from Rio.
We were here when Jazz on the Plazz began and when the holiday carriages first rode into town.
We have marched in holiday parades and have marveled from our patio each time the tree was lit.
We have hosted Halloweens and donated turkeys for Thanksgiving.
We’ve been here for graduations, proms, reunions and quiet lunches with old friends.
For three presidents, two world championships and far too many near Stanley Cups misses.
We’ve cheered the Wildcats and helped support events like Jill’s Run.
We have given back to schools and churches to synagogues and to local nonprofits.
We say all this not to get credit but to give thanks. Thanks to you dear friends for being there for us.
For a generation you have made us welcome.
Willow Street is proud to be a small part of a very special town.
