5 Things You Need to Know Today, Nov. 8

Sign up today to participate in Wednesday's Los Gatos Lions Club blood drive at the Los Gatos Lodge.

1. The Los Gatos Lions Club hosts a blood drive 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the Los Gatos Lodge in the DeAnza Room. To make an appointment click here. Blood donors must be 17 years of age, weigh at least 100 pounds, be free of cold and flu symptoms and must eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating. 2. The Los Gatos Saratoga Recreation 55-Plus Program offers an elder law/long-term-care planning class 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9 at the 208 E. Main St. Cost is $25 per couple. Class will cover an overview of elder law issues covering many of the care, legal and financial
concerns of elders. Topics covered will be tailored to students’ needs. To register, call 408-354-8700. Class No. is 2322.024. Only sign up one partner when registering.

3. The Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 9, at the Loma Prieta Elementary School, 23800 Summit Rd. Acting superintendent Patricia Lamson will give a town hall meeting report.

4. Regale Winery and Vineyards, 24040 Summit Rd, hosts a fashion show, silent auction and Tuscan-inspired hors d'oeuvres 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, benefitting the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $75 and include a complimentary glass of Regale's limited production Italian varietal wine, and a copy of the 2012 Calendar for a Cure featuring European model Valer photographed by Trisha Leeper Photography. 5. The 26th annual Los Gatos Art Association annual members' juried show runs through Dec. 4 at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Rd.  The guest juror is Kim Lordier. She is a graduate of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, a signature member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters as well as the Pastel Society of America, distinguished pastelist in the Pastel Society of the West Coast and artist member of the California Art Club.
