Patch Watch: Toilet Papering on Edelen Ave

Is this an act of vandalism or a joke? Who do you think should clean it up?

Someone toilet-papered or TP'd the trees in front of a home at 117 Edelen Ave. and now one Patch Watcher, who wishes to remain anonymous, is complaining about how long it's taken to clean the debris left behind.

The photos of the "house wrapping" accompanying this post were taken by this frequent reader and contributor to this article who reported the home was the victim of the mischievious act on Sept. 1.

Wrote the Patch Watcher: "Is TP in trees on Edelen Avenue considered accumulation of garbage after three weeks of blowing in the wind?! This is not the first time that the neighbors have had to deal with this, including Vice Mayor Barbara Spector, the direct neighbor. Thanks for posting!"

LOCATION: 117 Edelen Ave.

PROBLEM: Toilet paper on trees

RESPONSIBLE PARTY: Unknown at this time. Checking with Los Gatos Parks and Public Works Department and Code Enforcement.

DATE REPORTED: Sept. 1

DAYS ON WATCH: 18

The TPing of a house is a real mess and a waste of money. I don't think the kids doing this prank think about those things and they sure are not around to clean it up. Why hasn't the homeowner cleaned it up? If we saw a neighbor whose house got hit, we always offer to help. I suppose this is better than eggs, that cause real damage to the paint on your car. Seems to happen a lot during football season.

Mckenna, really? Hooligans? How old are you, 90? It's toilet paper and it's been a tradition for 50 years... There are much worse things going on in nearly every other town in America. Let it go...

Yes, it's a pain to clean up, but I sorta do think it's harmless. Maybe without the eggs. Once when I came home from college for winter break or summer break, I arrived to find my family's house tp'ed and "welcome home" written in rocks on the walkway. It was kind of nice, actually.

I feel that the homeless encampment behind Old Town is much more of a problem. Besides creating its own TP mess, it also produces a plethora of garbage, occasionally blocks the creek trail, makes trail users uncomfortable, and emanates a unique musk. Last weekend, after witnessing workers in white suites and masks clean it up, I passed it later to see that it was all right back.

hahaha I think its all fun for the kids, let them do that at night instead of going out to a party getting drunk and driving or getting superdooper high on whatever they find in there moms medicine cabinet....I wouldnt really call tping vandilsim, i would call it being a kid....now on the other hand putting salt on lawns or baloney on cars to take of the paint or throwing bottles through windows like what happend too my brothers car i would call that vandalism.
