Wildcats Open De Anza League Play in Style

Los Gatos defeats Mustangs by a 48-7 score Friday evening at Helm Field.

Friday night our Wildcat football team opened De Anza League play in style.

After our first drive stalled, the Cats put together a tremendous first half and led the Homestead High School's Mustangs by a score 35-7 at the break.

The team would go on to post a 48-7 win over a 2-1 Homestead team.

The Cats were led by running back Will Le who rushed for 166 yards and scored five touchdowns.

Nick Bawden also had a good game completing six of seven passes for 118 yards and 1 touchdown.

Kyle Kevorkian caught the TD pass from Bawden and had three more receptions on the night. Both Cameron Perry and Logan Chapman also had a pass reception.

Matt Etterman added to the run game by gaining 70 yards and sophomore fullback Joey Wood also ran well and rushed for a TD of his own. CJ Butcher, Brent McCoy, Johnny Breidenthal and Greg Orekhov all had carries on the night.

Up front, Teva Brender, Nico Aimonetti, Kevin Tjon, Dave Fishman, Jack Jarnigan, Brendan Williams, Alec Randolph and Jack Tittle all helped open huge holes for the running game and gave Bawden great protection all night.

The Cats were led on defense by Tyler Perkins, but got quality performances from Jack Tittle, Nico Aimonetti, Bailey McNally, Cody Marshall, Myles Morrison, Kevin Tjon, Jack Tittle, Teva Brender, Zack Wiley and Will Le. Support from the secondary included Kevorkian, Brent McCoy, Ty Doughty, Wood, Mike Mahoney, Yenlin Lee and James Sena.

Jack Tittle and Cameron Ackerman both recovered fumbles and Chapman and Tjon had a great night kicking the ball. McCoy and Kevorkian had big returns on kicks to put the Cats offense in great position.

All in all, it was an outstanding performance as most of the players saw action.

Saturday morning, after watching game film at 8 a.m., then running and lifting until 10, the Cats went out and washed cars for the Hibbitts family fundraiser, a most outstanding weekend.

Things will get tougher this Friday as we host Wilcox which rang up 51 points in their game Friday night.

Now we will wait to see how the players' grades came out, and prepare ourselves for a tough week of very hot practices.

Thanks for all the support and I hope you can make the alumni game this Friday night.
