Italian Gourmet Marketplace Cafe Centonove Opens on Monday in Los Gatos

Soft private opening this weekend kept new Italian cafe busy.

"Mangiare per vivire e non vivire per mangiare ... "

Translation: Eat to live and not live to eat. It's the phrase above new Centonove's pizza oven, which will officially open its doors to the public on Monday, Nov. 4.

And it's a welcomed addition to the many fine eating establishments in Los Gatos ... after all, townsfolk and visitors alike love Italian food.

Centonove joins at least half a dozen other Italian ristorantes in town ... Aldo's Cafe, Campo di Bocce, Gardino Fresco, Willow Street Pizza, to name a few.

Located at 109 W. Main St., Centonove had its soft private opening this weekend.

Next to popular Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, the new establishment describes itself as an Italian specialty retail and cafe featuring: artisan cheese and charcuterie, sandwiches, hand-tossed pizza, Italian small plates, wine and beer.

A quick peak inside Saturday revealed happy waiters wearing black shirts with the words "Eat Like An Italian," emblazoned on their backs.

The 520-square-feet retail space has been smartly remodeled between 91 and 101 W. Main St. LGCRC occupies 91 and 101 W. Main St.

Its owners are Lisa Rhorer and Pasquale Romano. Rhorer is also co-owner of Cin-Cin Wine Bar and Restaurant, along with partner Don Durante.

The 35-seating-capacity restaurant (including 11 stools) will be open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

On the brick wall side of the restaurant, Rhorer has done a great job at picking delicious gourmet italian products that are neatly displayed on spacious shelves.
