Los Gatos Sakamoto Plants Reopens After Renovations

Improved local nursery begins new chapter under the management of locals Matt Heller and Hugh Parker.

Sakamoto Plants, 15567 Camino Del Cerro, announced Thursday its reopening its doors after extensive renovations and under the new management of Los Gatos residents Matt Heller and Hugh Parker.

To celebrate the occasion the popular local nursery will have a grand opening 8-5 p.m. Saturday March 23 and the public is invited.

Paul Sakamoto, its previous owner for almost 30 years, had recently announced his retirement and the business was facing closure and an uncertain future.

Heller and Parker have worked hard to bring their vision of how to provide the public with the highest quality plants and landscape designs, said the company in a press release.

The nursery's services will range from helping the public replace sick or worn out plants, to providing full-scale landscape design, installation and maintenance, the release stated.

The store's interior has been completely refurbished and the upgrades feature Japanese-style arches by the front entrance, a rebuilt green house for tropical and indoor plants and an outside classroom for customers to learn horticulture and plant care, among other topics.
