Los Gatos Dream Home Design Closing

Downtown furniture showroom shutting its doors for good at end of November.

Dream Home Design, 301 No. Santa Cruz Ave., has announced it's closing its downtown Los Gatos store at the end of this coming November.

That means the business, managed by Julie Watros, was only able to last in town for three years, having officially opened in November of 2010.

The furniture store specialized in importing fine, hand-made antiques, hand-woven rugs, and accessories from several countries around the world.

While the warehouse is located in San Leandro, the business' only showroom was in Los Gatos.

A store employee on Tuesday said the owners are looking for a larger showroom location in San Jose.

"It's alright. It depends what people are trying to buy. There have been a lot of different stores at this location," the store employee said, when asked how business had been for the past few years.

Dream Home Design has been importing furniture for more than 30 years and prides itself on the uniqueness and quality of our merchandise.

Many times a year, owners Abdul and Ferozan Ibrahimi travel to Africa, India, Nepal, China, Peru, Brazil, Pakistan, Tibet, and Afghanistan to hand pick their furniture.

The business carries a large reclaimed wood collection, which displays beautiful natural colors, stability, durability, hardness, and texture.

Open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 noon-5 p.m. Sundays, the furniture store has items on sale for between 30 and 50 percent off.
