Music and Wine are Weekend Highlights

Flamenco dance and music, Lions dinner and auction and wine tastings are just some of the things on Los Gatos' agenda this weekend.

It's Thursday, and the weekend is approaching. It might be getting warmer, but then again, the chill could remain. Los Gatos Patch has done some research for you. Here are our suggestions for some of the coolest things to do in and around Los Gatos this weekend.

Where/When: 8 p.m. Friday, Carriage House Theater, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga.

Why Go: Who can resist the allure of flamenco music and dance? It's magical, so don't miss this opportunity for a quick getaway to Spain.

LOS GATOS LIONS CIOPPINO DINNER AND AUCTION

Where/When: 6-10 p.m. Saturday, St. Mary's Church, Howley Hall, 219 Bean Ave.

Why Go: If you enjoy cioppino, you will love this event. Proceeds benefit charities. The evening will feature super raffle prizes and a live and silent auction. Details: 408-356-1266.

Pricing: $40 per person

Where/When: 8 p.m. Saturday, Carriage House Theater, 15400 Montalvo Rd., Saratoga.

Why Go: Blues. Festival. All Star-Band. The name of the event says it all. You've got award-winning local and national talent in this group, so don't pass up the opportunity to hear some music that will really move you.

Pricing: $24-$32

Where/When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, , 300 College Ave. 

Why Go: Be among the first to taste the 2009 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay and the 2009 Graham Family Vineyard Pinot Noir. Drop in anytime over the weekend. Reservations are not required.

Pricing: $10; members, free.

Where/When: 2-6 p.m. Sunday, The Mountain Winery, 14831 Pierce Rd., Saratoga.

Why Go: Wine, jazz and the public library. A perfect combination and a great way to spend your Sunday afternoon! Los Gatos Community Foundation is the energy behind this second annual wine and jazz event on behalf of our library. Tickets include wine flight tasting (five wines) and an afternoon of jazz featuring the Pentimento Jazz Band.

Pricing: $25 online; $30 at door
