Monte Sereno Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges

Suspect Umair Bajwa remains incarcerated on an unknown bail amount on suspicion of three felonies related to drug possession, transportation, sale and distribution.

 

A Monte Sereno man was arrested by Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies early last month on three felony health and safety code violations dealing with drug possession, transportation, sale and distribution.

Umair Bajwa, 29, was formally arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail the morning of April 4 after appearing in Santa Clara County Superior Court drug division at 115 Terraine St. in San Jose.

Bajwa, who remains incarcerated on an unknown bail amount, has been charged with felony possession of a designated controlled substance without a prescription. The offense could carry imprisonment in county jail for a period of not more than one year or state prison.

The unemployed man is also facing a felony charge alleging he transported, imported into the state, sold, furnished, administered, gave away, or offered to transport, import into the state controlled substances.

If convicted of drug trafficking, he could face a jail sentence of between three, four, or five years.

A third charge accuses him of felony possession of a controlled substance for sale or purchase, which is punishable by imprisonment for two, three, or four years.
