Mom, Music and Brunch

This week's kids planner takes mom into account, of course, because this Sunday is Mother's Day. A family brunch and a family concert are on our calendar as are a children's fantasy faire, a weekend festival and free safety inspection of car seats.

'

When/Where: 3 p.m., Sunday, Cavalry Church, 16330 Los Gatos Blvd.

Why Go:  A musical treat for mothers and their families. Lots of terrific Pops music that mom will love and everyone who is with her. Listen to some Gershwin, Porter, Berlin and more! The entire 65-piece Pops will be on hand, as will someone who made a claim to fame on America's Got Talent, virtuoso harmonicist  Jia-Yi He, international virtuoso harmonicist. And something special for the kids, or at least the first 350 at the concert. They will get free harmonicas.  A great way to spend Mother's Day with your family.

Why Go: This is a mixed bag of events for alumni of all ages. It kicks off with a reunion mixer for last year's graduating class, which are this year's high school freshmen and to meet with current seventh- and eighth-grade students. Another highlight for the younger alum (current high school or college students) is the faculty basketball game and barbecue game Saturday afternoon. And everyone should enjoy the alumni film. So yes, as a 75th anniversary party, there's something here for older alum and parents of current students and younger alum as well. It will be a terrific celebration of Hillbrook's 75 years.

The event supports Los Gatos Parent Nursery School and the Los Gatos Library.
