Model Car Building is Top Choice This Week

Other options include Spanish story time at library, Campbell's St. Patrick's Day 5K run/walk, pianist Eric Himy and musical storytelling with Michael Corner in San Jose.

Educational activities are part of our five suggestions this week for fun family outings. Look for this kids’ planner each Wednesday and help us build it with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box. Why Go: Come for an evening of car building and pizza and share some quality father-child time. The two, or more, of you will get to build a die-cast model car. To sign up, call 408-402-3818.

Pricing: $30 per person, which includes the model, build session, pizza and drinks. Additional non-builders pay only $9 for pizza and drinks. Sign up soon, as space is limited to 10 builders.

When/Where: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Los Gatos Public Library, 110 E. Main St.

Why Go: If you are a native Spanish speaker and you want to make sure your children learn the language, this is a good activity for them. And if you don't speak Spanish but want your children to be exposed to other languages and cultures, this is a great way to start!

Pricing:  Free

When/Where: 8 a.m. Saturday, , 1875 S. Bascom Ave., Campbell. Registration starts at 8 a.m.; the race begins at 10 a.m.

Why Go: Support the cause. Run or walk to fight hunger, and help those who suffer from sight or hearing loss. Get details from about who will get the money raised.

Pricing: $30 for adults, $20 for children; register here.

When/Where: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, , 20 High School Ct.

Why Go: Support the Los Gatos Community Concert Association and see a performance by pianist Eric Himy. Himy has been praised by critics for his work. He has a wide repertoire, including the works of French, Spanish and romantic composers as well as George Gershwin.

Pricing: $20 for adults; $5 for students

When/Where: 1-3:15 p.m. Saturday, Children's Discovery Museum, 180 Woz Way, San Jose. (repeat sessions at 1 and 2:30 p.m.)

Why Go: A different take on storytelling for kids with the music of Corner's woodwind family.
