Los Gatos Weekend Planner: Feb. 8-10

Events to enjoy include a children's author presentation at the Los Gatos Library, play at the Theater in the Mountains and Valentine's Day wine tasting at Summit Wineries.


Silicon Valley Reads presents author Brenda Ehrmantraut and her book, Night Catch at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10 in the Los Gatos Library's children's room, 100 Villa Ave. Details: 408-354-6891.


The nonprofit organization Theatre in the Mountains and C.T. English Middle School present The Wiz at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 8-9 and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10 at the Loma Prieta Community Center, 23800 Summit Road, in the Los Gatos Mountains. Directed by Jillian Cummings, vocal direction by Ian Leonard and choreographed by Natalie Quilici. The play is based on the book by William F. Brown from the story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Draw Me a Story, organized by the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco, presents original works of art in a thematic and nostalgic trip through the history of children’s book illustrators and illustration techniques. Storytelling in Pictures: From Idea to Art is an original exhibit organized by The Museums of Los Gatos that showcases the work of 21st century Bay Area children’s book illustrators. Museum is opened 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday. Details: 408-395-7386.


The Summit Wineries—Regale Vineyards and Winery, Burrell School, Silver Mountain Vineyards, MJA Vineyards and Villa del Monte Winery—will be offering wine tasting, wine specials, gifts for the wine lover on your list and a special "heartfelt" celebration with wine tasting and more at each of its wineries noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10. Silver Mountain is open Saturday, Feb. 9 only for this event. Each winery's tasting room fee and policy applies.

I for one, plan to beat the cloudy days with a trip up the mountain to The Summit Wineries this weekend. It's always good to have something to look forward to!!!

There's a big Lunar New Year celebration 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 in downtown San Jose, 110 So. Market St. Everyone will be celebrating the year of the snake with music, lion dance, food, etc. It's free!
