High School Artists to Shine at Art Show

An exhibit of the art work of our Los Gatos high school students opens at the Art Museum of Los Gatos; other things for kids this week include a tech challenge, a build and play day, a day with the dogs and Arbor Day celebrations.



When/Where: 12-4 p.m., Thursday, Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave.

Why Go: The exhibit opens today and it is something we can all be proud of. This is the work of our local high school artists as they express themselves in a variety of mediums. The students will be on hand to mingle with attendees. The exhibit runs through May 20.

When/Where: 3:15-4:15 p.m., Wednesday, , 21 W. Main St.

Why Go:  This is a special end-of-month event for kids at Automobuild. There will be lots of blocks and building toys out and around for kids to play with as they do some building of their own. Best suited for children ages 3 and older.

When/Where: 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Oak Meadow Park, 233 Blossom Hill Rd.

Why Go:  Society Dog puts on this party. Fun for you, fun for your child, fun for your pet. This is an annual event that keeps Easter festivities around one more week (there is an egg hunt!) train rides on the Billy Jones Wildcat train and games for you, your dog and yes, your children, too!

Pricing:  Free


When/Where: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, 201 S Market St., San Jose.

Why Go: This is one of the principal programs of the Tech Museum for young people in grades fifth through 12th. The whole idea is to challenge students with a hands-on project that solves a real problem. This year, the challenge will be to figure out a way to clean the seas.

When/Where: Friday, 16400 Blossom Hill Rd. and 330 Belgatos Ln.

Why Go: Los Gatos gets a Tree City USA Award today and then goes on to plant 30 more trees. Bringing your kids to this Arbor Day event will help them understand the fragile nature of trees and how important they are to all of  us.  The actual tree plantings kick off from the Belgatos Lane location, with 30 trees to be planted at diverse locations.
