1891-1909 El Monte Hotel

In 1877, a man was murdered in front of this lodging house.

The Coleman House, the two-story boarding house and saloon (on the far left), was the first version of what later became the El Monte Hotel. In 1877, 33-year-old Charles Parr, son of Jonathan and Eliza Jane Parr, got into an argument and was murdered in front of the hotel.
