Abbey, the Labradoodle, Wins Los Gatos' Cutest Dog Contest!

After seven days of voting on Los Gatos Patch's Cutest Dog Contest, the winner with 80 votes is ...

Abbey!

The female Labradoodle, owned by Los Gatos residents Barbara and Rick Dalderis, has won the by a landslide of votes.

The 4-year-old canine is named for Edward Abbey, the author and environmentalist, according to Barbara Dalderis.

She received a total of 80 votes followed by Buddy, who got 41 comments in his support and Bifi, who earned 22 votes.

In entering her dog into the contest, Barbara Dalderis wrote that Abbey is a great traveler. Her fans bragged that Abbey is even a certified "Canine Good Citizen," which is quite an accomplishment, and is probably the most traveled dog in Los Gatos.

"She should be the mayor of Los Gatos. She walks through town every day with her people. Loves to romp at Bachman Park. You may have seen her walking down Santa Cruz Avenue with her ball in her mouth. Sometimes she sneaks a swim in LG Creek!" one commenter wrote.

Congratulations to the Dalderis family for entering their loyal companion into the contest and rallying their friends behind their adorable Labradoodle.

A total of 284 votes were cast in the contest that began at 3 p.m. Pacific time Monday, April 2 and ended at 3 p.m. Pacific time, Monday, April 9.

Other high vote getters were Winston with 20 votes, Zach with 16, Fiona with 15 and Rosy with 11.

Abbey will receive a $35 gift certificate to her favorite pet store in town and a pair of Patch T-shirts and Buddy will get a free Patch snuggie to wear while cuddled up on the couch with his favorite person and two Patch T-shirts.
