Los Gatos Education Foundation Hosts Holiday Party

Have you supported your local schools? Now is your chance!

The Los Gatos Education Foundation held its holiday party for donors Thursday evening at Los Gatos Luxury Cars, 66 E. Main St.

The organization is the fundraising arm for the Los Gatos Union School District and its five schools with an estimated enrollment of more than 3,000 students.

About 90 people attended the event, which consisted of fine dining with delicious food donated from new restaurant Spinello's, now located at the former site of Nick's on Main.

Regale Winery and Vineyards and Testarossa Winery donated the wine for the event.

Admission to the event was free to LGEF donors, said its president Tom Thimot. "We sent invitations to our donor base," he said.

Also in attendance was new Los Gatos Mayor Steven Leonardis who spoke about the importance of school funding and support of education from the local community. Leonardis has children attending Raymond J. Fisher Middle School.

LGUSD Superintendent Diana Abbati and principals from several of the five schools also joined the festivities speaking about the importance of education in Los Gatos' excellent schools.

The foundation, which began its fundraising year in August when school started, has so far raised more than $200,000, Thimot said.

The foundation's goal, however, is to raise more than $900,000 by the end of the school year, he added.

Thimot said he's serving this year as the organization's president as it's a rotated assignment among the 14-member board of directors.

Thimot said the foundation welcomes all donations, as small as 50 cents to larger amounts. Donations can be made by clicking here.
