Los Gatos Motor Inn Changes Name to 'Inn of Los Gatos'

Multimillion-dollar hotel renovation includes new south wing and state-of-the-art guest features.

The Los Gatos Motor Inn, 55 Los Gatos Saratoga Rd., has announced this week that it's changed its name to Inn of Los Gatos and has completed the first phase of a multimillion dollar renovation that includes most of its hotel rooms and facilities.

"We have been the Los Gatos Motor Inn for the past 52 years, but we're just now this week in the process of changing our name ... we feel that's a pretty major step forward to go along with our new look," said Inn of Los Gatos manager Gavin McClements.

Upgrades are now completed on the iconic hotel's south wing with its 24 rooms completely redone "from the inside out," McClements said. Two of these rooms will become suites.

Renovations on the property began in early 2008, but due to water pipe damage in November of that year, the work had to stop.

The renovations were restarted last summer, McClements, explained

Along with the new south wing, the hotel has built a new lobby and new guest features such as a 400-square-feet pool that's four-feet deep "perfect for the kids to splash in on a hot day," a fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment, a new 10-person conference room with a full teleconferencing suite and a guest laundry room, McClements said.

When renovations are completed, the hotel will have 48 rooms available to the public. All the work is expected to be completed by February of 2014, McClements added.

The hotel has been owned for the past seven years by the Saratoga-based 55 Partners LLC. company, McClements said.

The renovation has been done by the San Jose Construction company, which built the new lobby and a new 9,000-square-foot commercial building on Alberto Way, also owned by the hotel, which will be leased to the new Satellite Healthcare Dialysis Center.

The center is waiting on state approvals and will be open within the next few months, McClements said.

"What we really want to pass on to the public is that the rooms, themselves, are phenomenal with premium bedding and 47-inch LED high-definition TVs, ample lighting. These rooms are beautiful," McClements noted.
