Hobee's is Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year

Restaurant singled out for its generosity toward local schools, service clubs and charitable groups and events and being a good employer.

Hobee's Los Gatos has been selected as the first recipient of the Business of the Year Award.

The restaurant, located at 165 Los Gatos-Saratoga Rd., corner of Highway 9 and University Avenue, opened in Los Gatos in December of 2008. 

Now, instead of being known for its delicious blueberry coffeecake, it's now being recognized for its involvement with the community by donating food and gift certificates to many schools, service clubs and charitable groups and events, according to Chamber Executive Director Ronee Nassi.

Aside from donations, Hobee's is unique as an employer in the restaurant industry, providing medical/dental and 401(k) benefits to their full-time employees and recognizing their employees with programs like the Annual Hobee's Achievement Awards and Star Employee of the Month, Nassi said.

Hobee's Los Gatos is owned by Taber Food Services, Inc., also known as the Taber family. Its general manager is Sergio Gutierrez

Other chamber honorees this year are businessman and

Hobee's, Kane and Stevens will be recognized during a special dinner at La Rinconada Country Club July 19.

Also being honored this year is Nassi for her 10 years of service to the organization and a special award will be presented to the Town of Los Gatos in appreciation for its service, leadership and commitment to excellence during its 125th jubilee year for being the "gem of Silicon Valley," said Chamber President Dianne Anderson.

“Our annual awards program is an opportune time to recognize the integral role that the business community plays in the extraordinary quality of life of Los Gatos,” Anderson said. “Our businesses not only provide goods and services, they add to the unique charm and reputation of Los Gatos that draws visitors from all over the world.”
