Los Gatos Youth Theatre Presents 'Seussical Jr.'

Don't miss this whimsical tale July 11-14 at Blossom Hill Elementary School.

Los Gatos Youth Theater presents the musical Seussical Jr. at 7 p.m. Thursday July 11; 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday July 12; 2 p.m. Saturday July 13 and 2 p.m. Sunday July 14 at Blossom Hill Elementary School, 16400 Blossom Hill Rd.

Seussical Jr. begins when an ordinary boy, Jojo, uses his extraordinary imagination to create the fantastical land of Seuss.

The intricately woven storyline mainly follows that of Horton Hears A Who, but with many other fun characters and side stories, according to Annika Paylor, a spokeswoman for the musical.

The characters Horton, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LaBird, both Sour and Young Kangaroos, Wickersham Brothers, Bird Girls, and of course, the Cat in the Hat are all included in the show, Paylor said.

"Seussical Jr. is not only a delightful experience, but attending is an expression of support for our young actors," she said in a press release.

Fifty-eight local children, ages 6-12, have rehearsed for more than two months for the show.

Split into two casts, "Seussians" have enjoyed exciting opportunities to hone new performance skills, she said.

The nonprofit youth theatre company presents elaborate sets, costumes and talented young performers in each of its shows organized by dedicated volunteers, she added.

She praised director Brian Houg, vocal director Kelly Lauganour, choreographers Clara Blickenstaff and Janice Engelgau and producer Randi Chen.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children 11 years of age and under.
