Los Gatos Police Begins Click It or Ticket Enforcement Next Week

Campaign by local department joins state and nationwide effort to crack down on unbuckled motorists May 21-June 3.

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department is warning local motorists that it will be cracking down on those who don't buckle up starting Monday, May 21. The department is joining state and national law enforcement agencies during the "Click It or Ticket" campaign, which runs for two weeks until June 3 "to help save lives," it said in a written press release issued this week. "Seat belts are the most effective piece of life-saving equipment on your car." A first-time ticket for not wearing a seat belt is at least $142, the department said. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2010 nationally, 61 percent of the 10,647 passenger vehicle occupants killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes overnight were not …

Witnesses Come Forward in LaMar Kidnapping

Details about the red Volkswagen Jetta that's being associated with the disappearance of Sierra LaMar are beginning to emerge, according to the teen's mother.

News about a red Volkswagen Jetta being associated with the disappearance of Morgan Hill teen Sierra Lamar is apparently prompting witnesses to come forward, according to Marlene LaMar. “It’s just that, with the release of the vehicle that’s out and talking to the media, more people are coming forward,” LaMar said. “I can’t disclose specifically, but law enforcement is interviewing witnesses that are coming forward because of all of that. More people are coming forward, so that’s been a positive thing." Still Searching For Sierra Two Months Later

Wednesday, May 16, marks the two-month anniversary of Sierra LaMar's disappearance; more searches are scheduled.

Wednesday, May 16, represents the two-month anniversary of Sierra LaMar’s disappearance. “This is not how I wanted to acknowledge this date,” Sierra’s father, Steve, said. “But I am grateful that the community continues to support her cause.” Despite Sierra’s long absence, support remains strong for the 15-year-old Morgan Hill resident, with more searches underway today and Saturday. The KlaasKids Foundation continues to assist law enforcement and the LaMar family with future searches, a KlaasKids representative said in a statement. Man Stabbed Multiple Times in Downtown Los Gatos

Milpitas man arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police say he stabbed unidentified 28-year-old man and one more individual.

A 21-year-old Milpitas man has been arrested by Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident early Sunday morning that resulted in stabbing wounds to himself and two other people. At approximately 1:15 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a call of a man who was cut and bleeding on Victory Lane, south of Bean and North Santa Cruz avenues. Dr. Jasna Mrdjen is accused of prescribing prescription drugs to undercover officers without performing exams or reviewing medical records, according to the DA's Office.

A Los Gatos doctor was arraigned today, Monday, May 14, on charges that she prescribed large quantities of powerful prescription drugs to undercover officers without performing examinations or reviewing medical records. Dr. Jasna Mrdjen, 69, of Mountain View, also knowingly prescribed to addicts, according to the charges, despite several cases in which their family members pleaded with her to stop, said the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office in a written press release.
