The type of utility is color coded. Yellow indicates gas, oil, steam or chemical. In this locationRead More it is probably a gas line. The color code card is here: http://www.usanorth.org/ColorCode.pdf The outlines of the construction excavation area are marked in white. Major gas, communication or water lines are often marked with signs nearby warning to call USA before you dig. I have seen gas, phone and water lines cut and you don't want it to happen on your street. The utilities use paints that wear off quickly. It is the responsibility of the contractor or owner who requested the marking to remove the marks. Often the construction activity will remove the pavement along with the paint. Painting over with black will cover until the black wears off.

The markings are very important so a power or water line is not broken during construction. MaybeRead More they could spray paint black over the markings after they are done.

I believe that we have always lived in a un safe world. But now it seems to be getting worse. IRead More think people really need to think twice about what they are doing. And yes, not just mentally health people are the one's that can snap. But angry, stressed, etc. people as well. That means a lot of us...Be careful!

the town general plan is an anachronism. if the town indeed refuses to go higher than 35 feet, youRead More might as well put a "closed" sign at the border, because no one in 2013 is doing new corporate campus construction at two stories. los gatos isn't special and indeed has little to offer these companies in terms of location, they'll just go elsewhere. the entire reason the bay area is choked with sprawl is because we built out instead of up, and we never had the density to make mass transit realistic. i expect the town to reject the proposal, the developer to follow through on his threat of walking out entirely (he'll be turning up dirt on his project in a more accommodating town within months), and netflix will also bid the town farewell...they aren't going to stop growing due to the insular gerontocracy of los gatos, and if they can't grow here they'll do so elsewhere. get ready for higher taxes, the money for the services you demand is coming from somewhere...

The netflix proposal reminds me of the traffic study conducted for the Santana Row project.Read More "There will be no significant impact to Highway 280 Highway 17 or the off ramps at San Carlos" as stated by the developers traffic study blessed by the the city posted in the San Jose Mercury. what a joke we all know how that project turned out.. The netflix project is obviously going to impact that particular intersection and vicinity and is considerably more dense than the existing office park is and worse there does not appear to be any plans or design to mitigate that impact. This matter is simple vote send the project back to planning where it belongs and have the developer provide a better solution for traffic and parking just like everyone else would have to. The underground parking suggestions seem valid and readily available Suggestion have the developer add lanes in each direction to Lark and Winchester and increase the number of onsite parking places. the lack of parking in los gatos only typifies the lack of leadership when the opportunity presented itself. Does any one remember the fiasco surrounding the lack of parking addressed for the downtown core when Old Town was remodelled I for one would vote against the project until such time as a better solution was provided and can be voted up or down. If you want my two cents the North 40 location would seem more appropriate for a mid rise as would the topography to ensure parking and traffic issues are addressed appropriately As a series of mid rise structures could be built along the freeway fence and the 4 level Santana Row type mixed use could be built along Los Gatos Blvd.

First of all, I think it is difficult to have this continued to June 3rd, but..... How is decidingRead More not to go past midnight a "lack of leadership?" Every single person on the Town Council, plus the staff, plus most of the people still in Council chambers last night had to get up this morning and go to their day jobs. The provision requiring a motion to keep going past midnight came about several years ago after some marathon Planning Commission and Town Council meetings. It doesn't serve anyone well to have people trying to discuss and make important decisions when we are all falling asleep. There were an abundance of people present who wanted their time to address the Council. This also occurred earlier this year for the AHOZ and Templar hearings, among others. Realize that these Town Council members receive tons of email, plus a packet of everything compiled on the issue as of 3pm that day. This giant packet is delivered to each of them about 4pm on the day of the meeting, and they have 3 hours until the meeting starts! (That means coming home from work early and trying to eat dinner while reviewing reams of paperwork.) The Town Council meets twice a month. (So does the Planning Commission.) I would LIKE to assume that each Council Member walks into the chambers that night with an open mind, ready to listen, ask questions, and then make a decision. With about 20 speakers left at midnight, just the public hearing portion could have taken another hour. THEN there would have been questions for the developer and town staff, discussion, eventually a motion, more discussion, and then a vote. As each vote is cast, the Council members each discuss what lead them to make the decision they did. Expectations to rush through this process because some people are "tired of hearing about the height, etc." does not demonstrate the thoughtfulness or concern that I believe most of us expect. Going for another hour or two past midnight would not likely be productive. This is a big decision. It deserves complete attention and focus. So be patient.

If you want all of the high tech, high skilled, high paying jobs (i.e., the jobs Americans REALLYRead More want to do) from American companies to go to foreign workers and not to you and your children, then you should really love H1Bs.
