I believe that we have always lived in a un safe world. But now it seems to be getting worse. IRead More think people really need to think twice about what they are doing. And yes, not just mentally health people are the one's that can snap. But angry, stressed, etc. people as well. That means a lot of us...Be careful!

Newsflash: if a story is eleven days old, then it's not news. And this is given top billing over theRead More Albright Way Project? Fail.

Sheila, Could you clarify the last paragraph as I don't think there is DOJ gun registery.
Irene Aida Garza-Ortiz May 20, 2013 at 11:38 pm
No surprise, & I believe if they put more restrains on Gun Control. This will only excel...

It is the most heartbreaking lost. I know him very well. He is not the type of person that consumeRead More alcohol or uses any type of drugs. In fact, he is a God loving man and responsible person. It is just one of those horrible days/moments. May God rest him in peace. Deacon Abiy.

Irene: You're correct he does have the right to Sue ! his injuries sound horiffic and I feel forRead More him..........however, anytime a cyclist clicks into pedals he/she are taking a risk of injury or even death ! We all understand this and with that understanding we accept those risks and ride on. Sharing the road means not with cars and people but also with the present conditions, wheather it be wet, bumpy, debris, animals and ROAD construction !

I agree with KD. Too many lawsuits; individuals need to take more responsibility, includingRead More cyclists. Yes, it is painful, for that I sympathize.
Irene Aida Garza-Ortiz May 14, 2013 at 03:06 am
Share the ROAD/STREET! I know what pain is, & I do believe this cyclist has a Right to Sue....

"The post, however, created more questions than gave answers about the agency's policy on theRead More disposal of guns surrendered by the public." Which was my point in the original comments - because you "jumped the gun" and didn't wait for the LGMSPD to respond to the questions asked in the original story. "A Walther PPK 380 handgun. File photo Credit Courtesy of the Fairfield Police Department." Using an evidence photo of PPK this time that again has nothing to do with this story. At least it is less "scary" because James Bond used one. I guess every time there is a story related to guns, the Patch will put up a random photo of one to set the Hoplophobia tone.

Gun-buy backs are a joke and do nothing to lower crime or gun violence. In many cases, criminalsRead More can not only turn in illegally possessed guns that were potentially used in crimes, but get paid for it and can use that money to illegally purchase another gun.
Hans Johsens May 13, 2013 at 02:06 am
What about when cities run these "no questions asked" gun buybacks? Do these guns get runRead More through the same steps (even though the person turning them in remains anonymous)? Also, if a gun is discovered to have been stolen are the police or the DOJ required to notify the last legal owner of its recovery? Or is it up to that person to somehow "discover" that their legally owned gun has been found? If the police and the DOJ do not run these guns though the state and federal database then aren't they potentially receiving stolen property or receiving evidence and would that not be illegal for them to not act on this?
