I was 15 when my papa introduced me to the Dead! The memories of songs like Cosmic Charley and St.Read More Stephen ingrained in my brain! Then 10 years later I would see the amazing Jerry Garcia in concert in L.A. What a phenomenal band! Walked out very happy that night ... not sure if it was the smoke in the air, LOL, or the great vives I got from all those lovable hippies around me. Thanks so much for a great post, Mr. Colby!

Looks like you can price yourself out of the market! Other bands should take note.

Congratulations, Glen, you got it! Contact Sheila at the email above to collect your prize.Read More Varsha, you got it, too, but second place. There were several other good guesses. This was a difficult one. There are so many places where you can see ivy like this. I almost didn't see it myself. There is an old stone grotto with a spring at the bottom of it, almost covered with ivy. The second picture shows the new Pageant Park, with the Civic Center on the left, the new Library in the background and notice the two picnic tables off to the right. Next picture shows these two tables with the background hidden in dark shade. The next picture shows some stepping stones that lead to the grotto.

Does anyone remember when Dan's Model Train Shop was in this location? There was a door in thisRead More wall with steps leading down into the basement. Was there a stationery store in the ground floor? I vaguely remember buying USGS Topo Maps in this vicinity.

Wow! Tricky photo! Initially I thought this was the cobblestone/brick drive behind St. Luke's, pastRead More the Icing on the Cake parking lot, heading toward the path behind Old Town. BUT, it looked too flat.... Now I see it's from the mural outside the back of the Tait Art Museum.
Gary Hinze April 24, 2013 at 05:05 pm
You should be able to get it now with this new clue.

Gary Hinze February 12, 2013 at 12:51 am
Mckenna, you had me worried that these things might be sprouting up all over town! But, no, thisRead More one is not at the Green Thumb Nursery. Bill got it right. See the new picture. This is the hinge on the back gate to Old Town, providing access to the Los Gatos Creek Trail and the Children's Art Bridge overcrossing to Forbes Mill. Bill, Sheila will be contacting you to arrange a prize. I told you Penelope was psychic. Two weeks ago she guessed that the footbridge at Vasona was in the back of Old Town. That psychic radar needs a little calibration. A couple miles or a couple weeks off, it can only get better. Los Gatos Patch readers are good at this game!
