Lakeside Elementary School was founded in the 1900s and eventually included Central, Brown, Castle Rock and Fairview schools. Most of the campus was built in 1967. The Lakeside Joint School District operates its only school, which serves 130 students in grades K-8. The Black Road campus has 85 students in grades K-5. District headquarters are located at the school. The district's superintendent and school principal is Bob Chrisman.
