Calling All Daughters of Eve!

To all of the lovely women in our town, this blog is for you!

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
-Hebrews 11:1

Introduction

I have decided to accept the Patch's invitation to write about my faith as I desire to share what I have experienced in the hope that one of you in need may read my blog and know that you are not alone, that God cares for you and has heard your cries and prayers, and that there are other women in this community, who like you, need healing and to rediscover God's purpose for your life.

My blog will explore the mystery of our femininity, our hearts, souls and beauty, our emotions and relationships and faith. By sharing we can help each other heal. By supporting and ministering to other women in our town we can help ourselves draw closer to God. We can be present in this moment. We can see our God given beauty become a radiant force for good in our community. Through prayer we can discover our true purpose in life.

I invite you to join me as we explore the mysteries of a woman's heart and purpose. I hope you will travel this journey with me to whereever God will take us. Together we can become the beautiful women of faith that our Lord and Savior intends us to be.

The Source of Our Beauty

The bible tells us that women are uniquely and wonderfully made in God's image. Our feminine heart, soul and beauty, our emotions, passions and desires, are all a reflection of God's design.

The basic premise of faith is that God, the creator of the Heavens and Earth, the creator of all living things (plants, animals and man), made woman in His own image and likeness, "male and female created He them"... "And God blessed them" and told them to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over every living thing... "And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold it was very good." Genesis 1:26-31.

Wow!   We females are made in the IMAGE of GOD. We are GOOD in God's eyes. We are BLESSED by God! We are created to be productive sensual passionate women to be FRUITFUL and MULTIPLY. And on top of all of these blessings, God made us to care for and RULE the world that He created, a world of unsurpassed natural beauty beyond compare.
Each of us are descended from the first lady of the earth, a royal bloodline and heritage that entitles us to rule the earth!

The bible shows us we are designed to live a life of blessings and purpose.

Our Wounds

Yet, many of us are deeply wounded and broken. Some of us have suffered disappointments or betrayal. Others are exhausted from carrying heavy burdens. Often we feel all alone. We may think we are not good enough. We may believe we are failures at being a woman (mother, wife, daughter, sister, homemaker, professional, worker or business woman).

Why then are so many women among us not living the life God intended?

Why do we suffer from depression? Why are we disillusioned? Discouraged? Lonely? How many of us dream of romance? of love? of passion? of new beginnings? of a fairytale ending to our story?

How many of us mask our beauty for fear our natural beauty is the cause of our pain? How many of us have withdrawn from our loved ones, feel like we have nothing left to give? How many of us have hardened our hearts, thrown away our femininity? How many of us have neglected our spiritual life? How many of us are exhausted, or carry burdens too heavy to bear alone? How many of us are not fully present in the moment with our family? How many of us sorrow for devastating losses? How many of us long to feel God's presence?

How many of us despair our life has little meaning or purpose?

Our Attempt to Protect Ourselves

Due to our wounds or disenchantment with our lives that did not turn out like we planned or dreamed, we women have taken self-protective steps to protect ourselves from further hurt.  We hide our beauty. We harden our hearts. We suppress our true feelings and emotions. We forsake our dreams. We withdraw from those we love. We do not feel God's presence or enjoy a close relationship with our Lord (our husband, children, parents, siblings or friends).

Our Motto

We will not be shaken in our faith and will allow our beauty to shine to all in our community!

My Prayer

Lord, I pray for each woman who reads this blog, may she open her heart so You can enter and heal her wounds. Please heal our spirits and fill that place in our heart that only You can fill with Your unconditional unending love. Please cause Your face to shine down upon us and give us peace.

A Little About Me

For those of you who do not know me, I was born and raised in the faith. I have been a resident of LG for 17 years. I am the daughter of a minister who is the founding pastor of a church in San Jose.  I was raised in a family of all girls (love my sisters) and I am raising a family of all girls (adore my 3 amazing talented daughters) who grew up in our LG schools. I have been a mother for 30 years (yes, seriously!) and have loved every minute with my girls. I still have two high schoolers at home. Women are moms for life even when our adult children are fully grown and on their own!

My day job -when I am not blogging- is as a lawyer; my law offices are in the Trinity Building across the street from Van Meter Elementary.  In my spare time I was formerly a volunteer mom/vocal director teaching kids to sing in the joint musical theater program at Daves Elementary and Blossom Hill Elementary School and Los Gatos Youth Theater, but now I blog! Music is how my heart draws close to God.

On the subject of females, I would qualify as an expert in any court in this land! OK, perhaps I exaggerate my expertise a bit, but when it comes to females, I feel like I know it all and have seen it all, and anything I don't know, I can always ask my mother, sisters, daughters (sisters-in-law, nieces, girlfriends, female pediatrician, female internist, female CPA, 214 of my closest friends on Facebook, and/or 300 women lawyers in our local bar association of which I Co-Chair the Women Lawyer's Section).

Surely my mom or another woman who I know is bound to have the answer if for some reason the answer escapes me!

I welcome your thoughts and opinions on issues of faith that concern all of us.  And for those of you who are unbelievers, please know that you are not alone. We women of faith have all been where you are at some point in our life to one degree or another.  We have all had questions and doubts that test and challenge our faith in God. Please respectfully reach out so that we can share our faith and experience with you. Your life will never be the same once you know the living God who created you.

Blessings to all of the beautiful women in our town!
