Los Gatos Weekender: Historic Homes Tour, Health And Wellness Expo

THE MUSEUMS OF LOS GATOS 20TH ANNIVERSARY HISTORIC HOMES TOUR

The Museums of Los Gatos presents its 20th anniversary self-guided Historic Homes Tour this weekend, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 2-3. The tour features four homes dating from 1884 to 1920, three Victorians and a NARI-award winning Craftsman Bungalow. One of the properties includes an historic barn that now houses a private auto and automobilia collection, including a 1941 Lincoln Continental that won best in its class at the 1972 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. On this property stands a massive 600-year-old valley oak not to be missed. The tour will feature plein air artists, with art for sale, antique cars and live music at each home. Tickets are $40 and if purchased in advance include a one-year museum membership. ASSEMBLYMAN PAUL FONG'S COVERED CALIFORNIA MEETING

Assemblymember Paul Fong, who represents the 28th district, which includes Los Gatos, is inviting the public to an informational meeting to learn more about Covered California, the state's new "health insurance marketplace," created to meet the requirements of the federal Affordable Care Act. The event takes place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at the West Valley Branch Library Community Room, 1243 San Tomas Aquino Rd. in San Jose. Open enrollment is Oct. 1, 2013 through March 2014. BENEFIT FOR LOS GATOS BARTENDER RANDY FROH

Friends of Viva's bartender Randall "Randy" Froh, who is battling cancer, are organizing a benefit fundraiser for him 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3 at the restaurant, 15970 Los Gatos Blvd. Your $35 tax-deductible ticket purchase will include a buffet dinner, live music, drink contest with local bartenders, raffle prizes and surprises. Tax deductible donations to the Randall Froh Medical Fund are being processed through the Los Gatos-based Eric Drew Foundation, dedicated to helping seriously ill patients. The free Silicon Valley Health and Wellness Expo is presented by the Saratoga Senior Center and El Camino Hospital Los Gatos 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at West Valley College's Campus Center, 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga. The event will offer free health screenings, health education and resources for the aging population, Ask the Doctor booths, including specialists in orthopedics, urology, cancer, sleep medicine, rehabilitation, and more. The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art, however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386,

'AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS' EXHIBIT AT HISTORY MUSEUM
