Los Gatos Weekender: Food Trucks, 'Screen on the Green,' Oktoberfest, LGHS Anniversary

LOS GATOS FOOD TRUCK FEST

The Los Gatos Food Fest weekly summer culinary food truck series ends 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at La Hacienda, 18840 Saratoga-Los Gatos Rd. LOS GATOS' SCREEN ON THE GREEN

The public is invited to the Town of Los Gatos' "Screen on the Green" free family movie night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at Oak Meadow Park, 233 Blossom Hill Rd. The featured film is Disney's BRAVE. The movie will be shown on a 25-foot inflatable screen. Children's activities begin at 6:30 p.m. and include games and face painting. The Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad will offer train and carousel rides for $2 per person. Children under 2 are free with a paying adult. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. For your enjoyment during the film, bring flashlights, blankets and low back chairs. The BJWR snack bar will be open 6:30-8:30 p.m. Details: 408-399-5770. 

OKTOBERFEST AT LA HACIENDA

La Hacienda Inn, 18840 Saratoga Los Gatos Rd., presents its inaugural Oktoberfest event 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28. Two German bands will perform: Alpiners USA from noon to 4 p.m. features Margot Turrell, lead vocalist, with yodeling and vocals in authentic Bavarian dialect. There will be beer stein holding contests throughout the day and face painting for kids. The evening band will be The Internationals. The celebration will also include traditional German dancing by the Natures Friends German dance group. La Hacienda owner Russ Stanley will also have four German beers on sale, brats, sour kraut, German potato salad, Bavarian pretzels and German desserts. Tickets are $15 for 21 and over and include one beer or wine ticket and $5 for ages 13 to 0. Children 12 and under are free. Details: 408-354-0300.

LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE AND REMEMBER BUTTERFLY RELEASE

Justin Jolley Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in Justin Jolley's memory, will hold a breakfast and "butterfly release" at 9 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Los Gatos Adult Recreation Center, 208 E. Main St. and Pageant Park in Los Gatos, 110 E. Main St., behind the Civic Center, respectively. The event honors those who we have loved and lost and want to remember. LOS GATOS HIGH SCHOOL 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Los Gatos High School celebrates its 125th anniversary noon-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 on its front lawn. C.B. Hannegan's will be barbecuing and there will be a time capsule ceremony. People can donate things to the time capsule with a $5 donation. Lunch is $20 and T-shirts are $10 for sizes small through extra large and $12 for sizes extra-extra large. There will also be live music and Apple co-founder and Los Gatos resident Steve Wozniak will address the crowd shortly after noon.
