Los Gatos Weekender: Concerts, Teen Idol Auditions, Art Exhibits

STEVE SESKIN, CRAIG CAROTHERS AND DON HENRY AT THE WOODSHED

Steve Seskin, Craig Carothers and Don Henry return to The Woodshed, 16905 Roberts Rd., at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 to present their "Songwriter's in the Round" annual show. The Nashville songwriters mesmerize audiences with their poignant, heart tugging songs and wit and turn of phrase. Tickets are $20 in  advance and $24 at the door. Details: 408-395-0767.

DAVID SHARPE AT VILLAGE HOUSE OF BOOKS

Children's singer/songwriter David Sharpe will give a free concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 at Village House of Books, 326 Village Lane. His CDs will be available for sale. Details: 408-354-6600.

LOS GATOS ROTARY CLUB CRABFEST AND AUCTION

The Rotary Club of Los Gatos invites the community to attend its annual Crabfest and Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Church, 219 Bean Ave. in Los Gatos. Tickets are $50 per person, $20 for youth 12 and under and include all-you-can eat fresh cold crab, Billy's Boston clam chowder, farmers' market salad, garlic bread, pasta and coffee and dessert. Proceeds benefit St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Los Gatos, which helps the homeless, Los Gatos High School student activities, Boy Scout Troop 2 and the Rotary Club of Los Gatos Charities Foundation. SOUTH BAY TEEN IDOL VIDEO AUDITIONS

Produced by the Addison Penzak Jewish Community CenterSouth Bay Teen Idol is an "American Idol" style competition that crowns the best teenage singer in Santa Clara County. Teenage vocalists in 8th-12th grades are eligible to compete. Based on auditions, judges select 20 singers to advance to the semifinals competition in February, at which time 10 singers are chosen to advance to the finals in March. Contestants can choose either a video or a live audition. Live auditions are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 on a first-come, first-served basis at the JCC, 14855 Oka Road. AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS

The History Museum of Los Gatosat Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Exhibit highlights include the showing of home movies of famous American writer and lawyer C.E.S. SUNDAY FARMERS MARKET

Look for fresh seasonal organic and non-organic winter vegetables, specialty foods and fresh-cut flowers at the Los Gatos Farmers Market, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 at Los Gatos Town Plaza, Main Street and Santa Cruz Avenue.  Admission is free. Details: 408-353-4293.

ART IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS NEW EXHIBIT
The Town of Los Gatos and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered on a new exhibit showcasing renowned Bay Area artists' works of part of the program through Jan. 30, 2014. The program, which has been going on for 13 years, normally presents four exhibits in the chambers, 110 E. Main St., with an evening artist reception being held for each show. The first exhibit features more than 50 artists currently appearing in the Los Gatos Museums Gallery. Details: 408-354-6834.

BACKWARD IS FORWARD EXHIBIT AT LOS GATOS ART MUSEUM
The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art; however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386.
