Los Gatos Weekender: Coffee and Dessert, 'The Good Doctor' Play, Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon

LEARN 'COFFEE AND DESSERT' PAIRINGS FROM FAMOUS LOS GATOS ROASTER TERI HOPE

A "coffee and dessert" pairing event at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. will benefit nonprofit The Museums of Los Gatos. Participants will discover new ideas for holiday entertaining with a demonstration and tasting of creative dessert and coffee pairings from Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company founder and owner Teri Hope. FRIENDS OF LOS GATOS LIBRARY CHRISTMAS COLLECTION INTRODUCTION

The Friends of Los Gatos Library nonprofit organization will introduce their Christmas collection 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the former Los Gatos Library, 110 E. Main St. There will be complimentary coffee and pastries and holiday themed children’s picture books, cooking and entertaining books, novels, movies, and music CDs. 'THE GOOD DOCTOR' COMEDY AT LOS GATOS HIGH SCHOOL 

The Performing Arts Department at Los Gatos High School presents Neil Simon's "The Good Doctor" play at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 16 at the Prentiss Brown Theatre, 20 High School Court in Los Gatos. The comedy is based on some of Anton Chekhov's short stories. A matinee is scheduled 2 p.m. Nov. 16. "The Good Doctor" is the second show directed by Nielson who also directed last year’s highly successful spring musical "Urinetown." LOS GATOS SENIOR THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON

The Los Gatos Saratoga Recreation 55-Plus Program reminds area seniors to reserve their places for Saturday's free Thanksgiving luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at the Adult Recreation Center, 208 E. Main St. The celebration is sponsored by LGS Recreation in partnership with C.B. Hannegan's and the Los Gatos Lions Club. Reservations can be made by calling 408-354-1514 or in person by dropping in at the 55-Plus Program office 9 a.m.-noon Monday through Friday. Space is limited to early reservations are strongly encouraged.

LOS GATOS ART ASSOCIATION JURIED SHOW AT JCC

The Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Rd., hosts once again the Los Gatos Art Association annual Members Juried Show through Nov. 29 on the second floor of the center's Art Gallery Hall. Details: webmaster@lgaa.org.

BACKWARD IS FORWARD EXHIBIT AT LOS GATOS ART MUSEUM

The Museums of Los Gatos presents Backward is Forward: Layer and Impact in Printmaking exhibit through Jan. 12, 2014 at the Art Museum of Los Gatos, 4 Tait Ave. The show features prints by Enrique Chagoya, Hung Liu, Sam Francis, David Gilhooly, Gregory Edwards, Michael Mazur, Frank Lobdell, Andrew Romanoff, Inez Storer, Nathan Oliveira, Erik Bakke, Joan Miro, Marguerite Saegesser, Ruth Wall, Kathy Aoki, Vicky M. Chen, Tom Killion, Jessica Dunne, and Robin McCloskey. Artists have been using printmaking processes for centuries to create thought-provoking works of art, however the details of the medium are often a mystery to viewers. Details: 408-395-7386,

'AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS' EXHIBIT AT HISTORY MUSEUM

The History Museum of Los Gatos at Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Details: 408-395-7375.

ART IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS NEW EXHIBIT

The Town of Los Gatos and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered on a new exhibit showcasing renowned Bay Area artists' works of part of the Art in the Council Chambers program Nov. 1 through Jan. 30, 2014. The program, which has been going on for 13 years, normally presents four exhibits in the chambers, 110 E. Main St., with an evening artist reception being held for each show. The first exhibit features more than 50 artists currently appearing in the Los Gatos Museums Gallery. Details: 408-354-6834.
