Los Gatos Weekender: Children's Author Tim Myers, Woodshed Concerts, Exhibits

Don't miss children's author Tim Myers at Village House of Books in Los Gatos tonight.

Tim Myers, author of "Glad to be a Dad: A Call to Fatherhood," will make a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Village House of Books, 326 Village Lane. Myers is a writer, songwriter, and storyteller living in Santa Clara, where he also teaches at Santa Clara University. He earned his master’s degree in literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He’s published 10 children’s books and more than 100 poems. His notable works include Dark-Sparkle Tea (Wordsong), Good Babies (Candlewick ‘05), and Basho and the River Stones (Cavendish ’04). He won the 2012 SCBWI Magazine Merit Award for Fiction. LOS GATOS ROTARY CLUB CRABFEST AND AUCTION

The Rotary Club of Los Gatos invites the community to attend its annual Crabfest and Auction at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 atSt. Mary's Church, 219 Bean Ave. in Los Gatos. Tickets are $50 per person, $20 for youth 12 and under and include all-you-can eat fresh cold crab, Billy's Boston clam chowder, farmers' market salad, garlic bread, pasta and coffee and dessert. Proceeds benefitSt. Luke's Episcopal Church of Los Gatos, which helps the homeless, Los Gatos High School student activities, Boy Scout Troop 2 and the Rotary Club of Los Gatos Charities Foundation. CHUCK BRODSKY CONCERT AT THE WOODSHED

Storyteller, songwriter, troubadour and modern-day bard Chuck Brodsky performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 at The Woodshed, 16905 Roberts Rd. Brodsky's acoustic guitar and voice draw the audience in with finely crafted songs. Tickets are $18 in advance or $22 at  the door. Details: 408-395-0767. 

EVIE LADIN BAND AT THE WOODSHED

The Evie Ladin Band performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at The Woodshed, 16905 Roberts Rd. Performance includes clawhammer banjo playing, percussive dancing and storytelling songs. Tickets are $18 in advance or $22 at  the door. Details: 408-395-0767. 

AMERICAN BOHEMIA: THE CATS ESTATE IN LOS GATOS

The History Museum of Los Gatosat Forbes Mill, 75 Church St., presents "American Bohemia: The Cats Estate in Los Gatos" noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Exhibit highlights include the showing of home movies of famous American writer and lawyer C.E.S. Wood and poet and suffragist Sara Bard Field and their families at the Cats Estate, 17525 Santa Cruz Highway. Details: 408-395-7375

SUNDAY FARMERS MARKET

Look for fresh seasonal organic and non-organic winter vegetables, specialty foods and fresh-cut flowers at the Los Gatos Farmers Market, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 at Los Gatos Town Plaza, Main Street and Santa Cruz Avenue.  Admission is free. Details: 408-353-4293.

ART IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS NEW EXHIBIT

The Town of Los Gatos and the Museums of Los Gatos have partnered on a new exhibit showcasing renowned Bay Area artists' works of part of the program through Jan. 30, 2014. The program, which has been going on for 13 years, normally presents four exhibits in the chambers, 110 E. Main St., with an evening artist reception being held for each show. The first exhibit features more than 50 artists currently appearing in the Los Gatos Museums Gallery. Details: 408-354-6834.
